Tivoli House 1518

This double-fronted Victorian home has been edited for contemporary life. New joinery is placed in rooms like furniture pieces balancing the contrast between old and new. Contemporary steel frames emphasise incisions in the heritage fabric.

Three front rooms have been altered to carve out a spacious master bedroom with walk-in robe and ensuite, which occupies the south wing of the home and employ a contemporary vernacular woven with the old. Elsewhere, a kid’s room, sitting room and family bathroom similarly manoeuvre modern treatments around existing period features. A basement cellar has been concealed within the original bluestone foundations with a permanent central table and a safe-like door amplifying the gravitas of the space.

At the rear, the existing kitchen was refitted to serve the family for another few years prior to commencing Stage 2 of the build.
